preach on, brutha. Many people of our generation ever realize the lack of depth to their lives. I think even being able to articulate the need for more meaning is a huge win.

Bingo.

I, for one, see your filled canvas in my RSS reader. I also agree with your basic premise. I’m about 2 weeks away from leaving a well-paying corporate job for the unknown (read: scary) prospect of starting a company with no safety net.

To continue the cliche, we’re not on this planet for a very long time, and an unforeseen accident could make that period even shorter. I think wasting my life doing meaningless work to retire early is a selfish waste of the natural gifts I have been given, and the effort my parents, grandparents, etc. put in to provide a ‘platform’ for me to use my gifts to better the world.

If you can’t answer the question: ‘what have you done that is great?’, you should strive to find that answer.
